2003年1月から2003年6月の間、バンドリーダーであるグレッグチャコにウェスティンホテル上海で演奏をしていただきました。
グレッグチャコと彼のバンド（ザ・ニューヨークアンサンブル）を初めて採用し、グレッグは見事にその多くの責任と成功をおさめ、今では、私共の「ニーシュバー」は上海で最高のジャズが聴ける場所と評価を得るまでになりました。
グレッグは、またウェスティンホテルの方針にとても精通しており、以前のシンガポールのウェスティンスタンフォードやウェスティンシンプラザで演奏者のコーディネーターなども行っておりました。後に、この新しいウェスティン上海の「ニーシュバー」に、最適なバンドをコーディネートしてくれました。
グレッグは、プロ意識が高く、バンドリーダーとして素晴らしい才能を発揮できるだけではなく、マルチスキルを持ったミュージシャン、エンターテイナーでもあります。
グレッグは本当に「ニーシュバー」の成功にかなり努力を注ぎ、その結果、グレッグとそのバンドによる演奏によって、このバーで「本物のジャズ」が聴けるという評価を得、数多くのゲストでバーが混み合いました。

２００２年９月１１日のあの日からは、シンガポールでも経済が衰退を見せ、ミュージック・ビジネスも振るわなくなりました。また、私自身、７年に及ぶシンガポールでの滞在で、全てを成し遂げたという気持ちもありました。２００１年、ラッフルズ・インターナショナルは、シンガポールのウェスティン・ホテルに買収されましたが、引継ぎの期間は、しばらくは２つのホテルで演奏を続けました。その後、シンガポールでともに働いてきたウェスティンのマネージャーは、中国での新しい５ツ星ホテルであるウェスティンをオープンさせるため、上海に移ることになったのです。そこで彼が私に申し出たのは、上海に一緒に行って、ホテルのバーでジャズ演奏を続けてくれないかというものでした。私はその申し出を受け入れることにしました。２００２年９月、上海に移り、ホテルはスゥィングサウンドとともにオープンしました。それから数ヶ月間の間に、私のバンドは街の噂になり、雑誌でも取り上げられました。しかし、今度はSARSです。ホテルは、SARS騒ぎの後、契約をキャンセルしてきたのです。その前までは、あれぼど賑やかだったバーが、遂には音一つなくなったのです。 というわけで、残念ながら私たちは上海を後にせざるを得ませんでした。SARS騒ぎの前に寄せられたコメントは、以下の通りです。
